In the past few days the wind has been rather variable. Sometimes we had barely any wind and then it was a little more but coming from the wrong direction. As a result our progress was pretty slow. On the other handwe were able to utilise those times of low wind for some cleaning and maintenance work. Thus our boat is as shiny as it was on the first day.
Now we are preparing the boat for the first low pressure system, which will pass over us in the next couple of hours. We will try to stay on the southern side of the system for as long as possible to allow us being carried eastwards. The forecast is looking quite good at the moment with the winds not getting too strong. Nevertheless, such a low pressure system must never be underestimated. Accordingly, we have changed our headsail this morning for a smaller one already.
We are since sailing in 17-20 knots of wind and make good speeds towards the scoring gate. We regularly reach speeds of 10 knots and are positive to collect at least one point from the gate based on our current position in the fleet. But this is still a few days out and nobody can say precisely, what else is going to happen until then.
