After an initial dip into the Southern Ocean in Leg 2, this leg will take us even further south, spending days in the famous roaring forties, the range between 40° and 50° south in latitude. Only few sailors ever go there given the winds are generally strong and there is little land to take shelter. Certainly a highlight of the circumnavigation, taking around 4’800NM from South Africa to the Australian west coast.

Around the Cape of Good Hope
